An optical power meter (OPM) is an electronic test instrument used to measure the power output of fiber optic devices or the power or loss of optical signals transmitted through fiber optic cables. The OPM uses a photo diode to generate a current proportional to the optical power. This allows the OPM to determine the average output power level of the light source.
