Application
The fiber optic identifier is mainly used in the construction, operation and maintenance of optical communications, as well as in data centers. Without interrupting communication, it non-destructively detects the presence, direction and modulation tone of optical signals at any point on single-mode or multimode fibers. Its applications include critical areas such as fiber optic cable fault detection, trunk line maintenance, identification of fiber splice points and home broadband network installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can it detect signals on live fiber without interrupting service?
A: Yes, it uses macro-bend detection to check traffic presence and signal direction without cutting, cleaving or opening the fiber.
Q: Which fiber types can be tested?
A: It supports 250µm, 900µm, 2.0mm and 3.0mm coated fiber, in both single-mode and multi-mode.
Q: What wavelengths can it detect?
A: It detects signals at 850, 1300, 1310, 1490 and 1550nm and indicates traffic and direction via LED indicators.
Q: Is a power adapter included for long field sessions?
A: Yes, the device runs on AA batteries with optional AC adapter support for continuous field use.
